REPORTING
OF HIV INFECTION

Anonymous
reporting of HIV infection started as a pilot project in January 2001. The
epidemiological surveillance network employed for the AIDS Registry has
served as framework for this new surveillance report system. At present,
26 hospitals and 4 prisons perform HIV reporting. An unique personal
identifier (UPI) azures anonymity and prevents data duplication.
